Setting Expiration on Cached Lists

 
You can set Sliding or Absolute expiration on cached output of Lists and specify duration in minutes after which all the output items should expire from the cache. To set expiration on, follow these steps:
 
  • Go to the Central Administration page of SharePoint and click on the Application Management tab.
  • Click on Distributed Caching under StorageEdge Management.
  • Click on List Caching under Distributed Caching tab.
  • From the drop-down menu that says Expiration type, select Sliding or Absolute.
  • In the box below enter the duration for expiration in minutes.
     
     
     
  • Click on the Apply button.
 
If you wish to set different expiration types and durations on different Lists in a Site, follow this:
 
  • Go to the Central Administration page of SharePoint and click on the Application Management tab.
  • Click on Distributed Caching under StorageEdge Management.
  • Click on List Caching under Distributed Caching tab.
  • In the bottom of the page, expand a Site.
  • From the Lists shown, select the one you wish to change expiration of.
     
     
     
  • In the right side of the window, select expiration type from the drop-down menu and enter expiration duration in the box below.
 
 
Note: If you select Use Default, the default expiration type will be used that you specified for all the Lists.
