Hourly to Reserved License Conversion
For an activated NCache Cloud Service subscription, the resources that are reserved at the time of subscription creation are added to the pool of available resources in the NCache subscription. All environments created in this subscription consume resources from this pool. When all reserved resources are consumed, the additional resources use hourly licenses. These licenses are not a part of your subscription and are charged on an hourly basis, hence are more expensive than the reserved licenses.
However, you have an option of converting your hourly consumed licenses to reserved if your subscription meets certain requirements. These requirements are:
- If some reserved licenses become available.
- If you purchase more reserved licenses.
Hourly to Reserved Auto Conversion
Whenever reserved licenses become available in your subscription, NCache Cloud Server automatically converts an hourly machine to reserved using those available licenses through heartbeat. If there are more than one hourly machines in use, then the machine whose heartbeat is received first will be converted to a reserved machine and added to your subscription plan. (First come, first serve basis).
Heartbeat of an hourly machine is sent at least twice a day. If you have reserve licenses to spare and your machine's heartbeat has not been sent yet, then you will not be charged with any additional charges for that machine.
Hourly to Reserved Manual Conversion
In case you want to specify which hourly machine gets to convert to reserved, you need to manually reactivate that machine. To reactivate a machine, follow these steps:
- Open Windows PowerShell on your machine and run the following command.
Register-NCache -Key xxxxxxxx-xxxxxx-xxxxxxxx -FirstName John -LastName Smith -Email email@example.com -Company Alachisoft -Environment NCacheCloudEnv -Reactivate
Keyattribute takes the same activation key that's provided on NCache Cloud Portal. To get this key, go to the Environment Activation Options section from the NCache Cloud Portal.
When a machine converts from hourly to reserved, it automatically starts sending heartbeat once a year instead of twice a day.
