How to Use the DumpCacheData Tool

DumpCacheData tool (dumpcachedata.exe) enables the user to get a backup of all the items currently present in the cache to a network or local path.

The same tool can be used to restore the items to a specified cache using a previously created backup from a local or network path. The DumpCacheData tool is available in the following folder - %Install Folder% NCache\Bin\Tools\

At the command prompt, type the following: dumpcachedata [ cache-name ] [/p | /path] [/a | /assembly]

  • cache-name - Specifies id of cache to be dumped
  • /p /path - Specifies backup/restore path
  • /a /assembly-folder - Specifies path where dependent assemblies reside

Backup items present in the cache to a specified local or network path

The following command backs up all the items currently present in the cache

  • dumpcachedata demoCache /a "C:\assembly-folder\" /p "C:\Backup-path\"

Restore the items to a specified cache from a specified local or network path

The following command reloads all the items to the cache from the path specified

  • dumpcachedata demoCache /a "C:\assembly-folder\" /p "C:\Backup-path\" /r
