Computer Name Not Found
The 'Computer Name Not Found' error typically occurs when NCache Monitor attempt to monitor a remote server node using a non-administrator account. To resolve this, you must adjust the security descriptors for performance files and registry subkeys to allow remote RPC access for the monitoring account.
Workaround
To enable remote monitoring on the server node (Windows NT computer), do the following:
- Grant at least READ access to the following files:
%windir%\system32\PERFCxxx.DAT%windir%\system32\PERFHxxx.DAT
Note
xxx is the basic language ID for the system; for example, 009 for English.
- Grant READ access to the following registry keys on the remote computer using REGEDT32:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Perflib and all subkeys of that key.
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers\winreg
Warning
Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious system-wide problems that will require a Windows reinstallation. Use this tool at your own risk.
